Gift Greeting 330: Uncut Panels (TK)

Description

Two uncut panels displaying four Gift Greetings each. Though they may have been sold this way, these are more important as instructive elements about the way small prints were produced in the Country Prints workshop. both panels utilize the same color inks, possibly indicating both panels were struck from one set of screens. According to a c.1955 Country Prints price list, these eight prints were the company’s “first venture into the exciting greeting card field”, each print “has its own attractive folder insert and envelope”. This introductory set established the long-running Gift Greetings line that quickly expanded into eight additional prints of Americana themes. Several of the eight Christmas prints shown here were later revised in the late 1950’s. The upper panel bears four scenes from the Bible’s St. Luke story. The lower panel has two religious scenes and two secular scenes depicting holiday traditions.
