Description

This example is a Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A one-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting the faces of six early American carved wood buttermolds. The matching square dinner napkin depicts four buttermolds taken from the four corners of the placemat. On this version of the napkin the buttermolds are centered within each quadrant rather than placed to the outside edges as in other examples. This design appears on the c.1949 and c.1951 Country Prints packing slips in three colorways on natural linen (barn red, bottle green, or yellow spice), and one on white linen (Yankee blue). Edges are straight stitched and fringed.
