Name/Title
Gift Greeting, Christmas: Christmas is Come (TK)Description
A five-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting decorated gingerbread cookies on a cutting board. The cutting board sits on a teal colored field surrounded by six-pointed stars or snowflakes. At top, two green ribbons unfurl, showing an unattributed quote in black script, “Christmas is come in and no folks should be sad”.
The gingerbread cookie shapes are symbolic of both secular and religious tradition. At top, the king, star and angel were present at Jesus’ birth. At bottom, the fish represents Christianity. The rooster symbolizes observance and resurrection; see web links. Reindeer can symbolize journeys, but in this case it may just be a nod to secular Christmas traditions.
This print is a Gift Greeting, Country Prints’ line of unmounted art prints offered in folded cardstock note folders with envelopes for mailing or gift giving; see “Branding” for Gift Greeting folio.
