Name/Title
Kitchen, Potholder: Dailly Bread 12, BlueDescription
A potholder with a three-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a loaf of bread, wheat, a sickle, and a bakers’ peel. In text are partial lyrics from the Christian hymn, “Back of the Loaf”, by Maltbie D. Babcock, “Back of the loaf are the wheat and the showers, the sun and the Father’s will”; see web link.
First introduced in 1965, this potholder is part of a coordinated line of matching kitchen accessories including a towel/wallhanging, tile, and apron. These items were available individually and in matching gift sets. All were produced in two colorways: red on natural linen, and blue on white linen.
When first introduced in 1965, the potholder had a linen back. This c.1966-70 example has a heat resistant back.
This potholder appears in the brochure “Fall and Christmas 1965, Robert Darr Wert/Country Prints”.Made/Created
