Wallhanging, Plowshares: Kitchen Pocket, Measurements U805Description
A Plowshares Kitchen Pocket wallhanging with a four-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting measuring tools, storage vessels and notations for liquid, dry, and forgotten units of measure, as well as Wert’s trademark trailing vine. At bottom is a nugget of wisdom: “A DAB, A PINCH, A LUMP OR DASH- NEVER USE WHEN FEELING RASH.”
Designed as a wallhanging, there is a rod-pocket at the top, and a sewn pouch at the bottom which contained a paper cookbook; see “Branding” entries for complete cookbook. A paper calendar was is stapled to the face of the pouch.
Launched in 1964 for the 1965 calendar year, Plowshares is Country Prints’ line of narrow wallhangings, typically 8” x 24”, the majority of which are Christian in theme. Each came with a hand printed envelope for mailing or gift giving.
Edges are serged and bound with an overlock stitch.
A matching towel/wallhanging was also produced; see images.Made/Created
