Towel, Calendar: Happy Heart, 1965

Description

A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A three-screen/four-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting Wert’s interpretation of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art, with the text, “May you have a happy heart in 1965”. Open days on calendar months have quirky notations like, “Longer days, colder nights”, in February. A matching towel/wallhanging, apron, tile and other kitchen accessories were also produced; see images. This towel/wallhanging appears on a c.1965 promotional postcard for Bromley & Co. of Boston, Massachusetts, Country Prints’ New England wholesale representative to the gift trade.
