A placemat with a three-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting herb plants placed in vessels of copper, wood, ceramic and glass with the corresponding herb names. The matching napkin has a one-color silkscreen print with multiple herb names in calligraphy. This set was produced in at least two colorways: brown and pink. This example is in pink.
At bottom center, the quote, “Herbs too she knew and well of each could speak”, is from the poem, “The Schoolmistress”, by English poet William Shenstone (1714-63); see web link for full poem.
