Notecard, Christmas: Plowshares Christmas Greeting C930Description
A Country Prints sales sample retained as a print record.
A four-color silkscreen print on light blue linen glued within a dye cut Strathmore notecard in blue. The image depicts a woman with a rolling pin standing before a gingham covered kitchen table while looking at a small girl in a full dress holding a holly garland in front of a cast iron stove. A small potted Christmas tree is on the shelf above the stove, and a holly wreath with a red bow hangs on the wall.
Signed AD or DA in the lower left corner (obscured by card frame), this composition is the work of an unidentified freelance artist working for Country Prints after Wert’s death in January 1966.
This Christmas Greeting is part of Country Prints’ Plowshares collection of mostly Christian based inspirational cards and wall hangings. It appears in the brochure “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1966; see images.Made/Created
