Branding, Signage: Plowshare

Description

Hand painted pricing signage promoting Country Prints’ Plowshares wallhangings. The sign is painted on the former top rail of a chair and bears screw eyes for hanging in trade show booths. The rail is painted with a red wash. The word “Plowshare” is painted in black. “hangings $6.60 doz.” is painted in yellow ochre outlined in white. The left and right ears of the rail are accented with white daisies. Most of the rail is lightly outlined with a red-orange stripe. Lightly hand drawn pencil guidelines are apparent throughout. Mostly Christian in theme, Plowshares wallhangings were introduced in 1964 for the 1965 calendar year, along with Kitchen Pockets wallhangings. A twelve page paper calendar was stapled on the lower face of many Plowshares.
