Name/Title

Notecard, Matted Greetings: Cultivation 350-13

Description

A Matted Greeting with a four-color silkscreen print on dyed yellow linen depicting farm equipment and musical instruments, with a quote from Daniel Webster, “Cultivation of the earth is the most important labor of man. Where tillage begins - other arts follow.” The dye cut mat is glued to the backing board along all four edges. This Matted Greeting appears in the Spring 1958 Country Prints price list as part of a new product line. Seventeen 7” x 9” matted prints were initially produced and included envelopes for mailing or gift giving. They were also available framed in black or natural frames. This example is a sales sample used at trade shows. A label reads, “350-13 Cultivation. Suggest nat. (natural) frame.”
