Name/Title

Tile: Craft Horizons, Herbs (TK)

Description

A three-color composition printed on a white tile blank with a clear gloss overglaze depicting a collage of mid-century modern ceramic vases containing herb plants. This was likely from a short-lived line of modern designs produced by Country Prints titled “Craft Horizons”. Country Prints’ wholesale customers didn’t respond to the line and it was quickly discontinued. Wert took classes from a couple teaching ceramics at nearby historic site Deerfield Village. The vases portrayed on the tile may be his own designs, emphasizing his interest in modernity and current design trends. This example descended through the Wert family and is in the collection of Kathryn Zentner.
