Description

An assortment of Matted Greetings containing silkscreened prints on linen in colored cardstock mats backed with single-ply cardboard. They are listed in the Spring 1958 Country Prints price list as part of a new product line. Seventeen 7” x 9” prints were initially produced and included envelopes for mailing or gift giving. They were also available framed in black or natural frames. A, B, G, and J are all pictured in separate entries. C, D, H, and I are only represented in this image. A. Bread 350-16: a blue breadboard holds three types of bread. A peel sits horizontally across the breadboard handle. The background is a brick wall. B. Kitchen 350-15: A low cast iron stove sits against a brick wall, with a blue butter churn to the left and a blue glass demijohn on the floor to the right. C. Pot Herbs 350-20 (TK): Four pots of herbs sit on two shelves against a brick wall. There may be text on the front of each shelf, possibly herb names. D. Marjoram 350-11: A potted marjoram plant against a light green ground, with the name, “MARJORAM”, between the plant and the pot, and possibly “for happiness” below. E. Herb Bouquet 350-8: An herb bouquet tied with a ribbon against a pink ground. G. Harvest 350-12: A shock of wheat, a scythe and pitchfork against a light yellow ground, with the quote, “A harvest of peace produced from a seed of contentment.” H. Rosemary 350-9: A rosemary plant in a pink demijohn against a light green ground, with the word, “ROSEMARY”, between the plant and the bottle, and possibly “for remembrance” below. I. Rose 350-10: A pink rose against a light green ground. Below is the word, “ROSE” and possibly “for love”. J. Plant A Tree 350-18: An espaliered tree against a red brick wall. Text may appear in the green field below the wall.
