Repeated within the blue border in white text, “GIVE US PEACE, DONA NOBIS PACEM”, refers to the traditional canon, or song in the round, Dona Nobis Pacem. Songs sung in the round have a sense of the infinite, which may be the symbolic reason for the border repeating itself; see web links. The design of this print is similar in theme to the Wert family’s Christmas greeting printed in 1950.
