Name/Title
Branding, Signage: Product SignageDescription
A wholesale/retail sign silkscreen printed in four colors on white linen advertising Country Prints matching towels and… [likely tiles and aprons]. The blank space at the bottom of the composition allowed space for a small display block to advertise a matching product, such as a tile. The raw cut at the bottom of the sign was intentional.
During the 1960’s Country Prints produced a number of items that were sold individually and in matched sets of towels, tiles, and aprons in “Country Store” gift boxes. This sign uses language and the “pointing hand” found on the gift boxes and brochures of the period. The sign retains the miniature clothespin used to affix it to displays.
This sign appears in photos of Bob Wert at a wholesale trade show and in his demonstration booth at the Eastern States Exposition in the mid-1960’s.Made/Created
