Calendar, Desk: American Crayon Company, 1958Description
Published in the journal Design, Vol. 59, 1957.
Description and photos of a 1958 calendar designed by Robert Darr Wert. Inspired by a 200 year old retable from New Mexico, it was available as a standard-form secular calendar, or as a Catholic calendar with all major religious holidays.
The article indicates the calendar was comprised of this single piece of silkscreened art, with the calendar months on the stand below the print. It also states Wert’s design was adapted for print by Alan Sanford, possibly an employee who did Wert’s color separations.
This may be a 3”x 5” print.
The calendar was free for the asking through the American Crayon Company of Sandusky OH. American Crayon was the owner of the Prang line of art supplies; see web link.Made/Created
