Name/Title
Print: Early Glass 97-3Description
A four-screen/five-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting twelve early glass vessels on three shelves in a box bay window. An oval sign labeled “EARLY GLASS” hangs from chains above. Trailing vines issue from three bottles, further animating the composition.
This print was inspired by Wert’s personal collection of early glass bottles as well as the window of the former milk house adjacent to his barn workshop in Gill, Massachusetts; see image below.
This print appears in the undated c.1955 brochure “Country Prints in Frames”. It was also available as a Country Prints Gift Greeting, a line of unmounted prints in cardstock note folders with envelopes for mailing or gift-giving; see “Gift Greetings” entries.Made/Created
