Tile: Rooster T-1

Description

A four-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting three roosters, two of which are superimposed with Wert’s interpretation of calico print patterns. A radiant sun and a trailing vine finish the composition. This c.1956 design is an update of the c.1955 Roosters T-1 tile and is a pair with the updated c.1956 Hens T-2. A matching apron and framed print were also produced; see images. This tile appears in the c.1956 brochure “Country Prints Tiles designed by Robert Darr Wert”; see images.
