Name/Title
Tablecloth: Herbs 450, 52” x 72”, Blue on WhiteDescription
A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record.
A tablecloth with a two-color silkscreen print on white linen depicting numerous stylized herb plants supporting the lyric, “Keep your garden clean, let no one take your thyme.” This lyric is from a folk song with many titles sung by Jean Ritchie, an early folk song revivalist who won a Fulbright to study the link between American, Irish and English folk songs; see web links for biography and song lyrics.
This tablecloth is listed in the Spring 1958 Country Prints price list in two sizes (52” x 52”, 52” x 72”) and three colorways (pink/green on white, brown/black on tan, and a new blue/white colorway). It is listed in the January 1960 Country Prints price list, and it also appears in the c.1960 brochure “Mat Sets by Robert Darr Wert/Country Prints”.
Matching placemats were also produced; see images.Made/Created
