A print from the “Framed Country Notes” series based on Wert’s Country Print Notes notecards. This example is from the Country Life 335 notecard set and is matted with blue colored paper finished with printed borders in brown and red. The series is noted on a Spring 1958 Country Prints price list and may have been introduced that year.
The print is a six color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a country woman tending a garden.
This framed series varies from other framed Country Prints pieces in that the frame is essentially a box with the linen print and mat glued to the box bottom. The corners of the frame are box joined rather than mitered, and the back panel is a piece of wood that is integral to the frame, rather than the inset corrugated cardboard used in most Country Prints frames.
