Description

A five-color gouache painting on art board depicting a large barn with a lightning rod, cupola and rooster weathervane, two silos with lightning rods, a saltbox farmhouse, a corn crib and an ox cart. Hand drawn pencil guidelines are visible under the paint. Edges are bound with black adhesive tape. In the production print, the five colors in the painting were produced with four screens (green was produced by overprinting blue and yellow). Color reproduction is faithful to the painting. Some details were minimized or eliminated in the final screens. The production print appears as one of a pair in the c.1955 brochure “Country Prints in Frames”, and a c.1955 price list with the description, “Village and Farm buildings suggest painting on glass — Mustard mats.”
