Name/Title
Wallhanging, Plowshares: Harvest of Peace (TK)Description
A Plowshares wallhanging developed by a freelance artist and produced by Country Prints after Wert’s death in January 1966. Though designed to blend with Wert’s catalog of work, the initials “BE” mark this as the work of an unidentified artist.
The design features paraphrasing of the maxim from Poor Richard’s Almanac by Benjamin Franklin, “A harvest of peace [produced] from a seed of contentment.”
Plowshares is Country Prints’ line of narrow wall hangings, typically 8” x 24”, the majority of which are Christian in theme.
Top edge is hemmed to accept a dowel for hanging. Remaining edges are serged and bound in a contrasting red overlock stitch.Made/Created
