Breadboard: Reaper 402Description
A five-color silkscreen print on hardwood with a clear finish coat, Illustration depicts a Pennsylvania “Dutch” farmer wielding a scythe alongside a shock of wheat. Overhead, stars form the shape of a sickle, another harvest tool. An attached iron handle acts as a hanger as well as a handle when using the back of the board for cutting or serving. The shape of the board is reminiscent of the head of a shovel, a “man’s’ work” tool.
This design is one of a pair, the second being a depiction of a woman baking bread, Baker 403 (see image below, and separate entry under “Breadboards”).
