Description

A three-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting examples of wrought iron in silhouette against a brick patterned ground bordered with a rickrack style wavy line. This tile design appears in the c.1955 brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Print Tiles”, the c.1956 brochure “Country Prints Tiles designed by Robert Darr Wert”, and the c.1960 brochure “Robert Darr WErt/Country Print Tiles”. It was also included in a 1955 cover article about Robert Darr Wert and Country Prints in the art journal Design; see images. This design continued in production from c.1954 through the 1960’s.

Design, screen production, and mixing of colored underglazes performed at the Country Prints workshop, Gill, MA. Screen printing of underglaze colors, clear glaze, firing and finishing by Ceramo Studio, NYC. This example is printed on the thicker tile body used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio prior to 1962.
