Description

Country Prints production samples retained as a print record. A placemat set with a three-color silkscreen print on the placemat and a two-color print on the napkin. The placemat is flanked by tall flowering plants drawn in the manner of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art. The center field is bordered in a wavy green rickrack style line. The napkin is printed with a potted plant with tulip blossoms and a wavy rickrack style border. This design appears on a c.1949 Country Prints packing slip. This is amongst the earliest designs produced by Country Prints upon its founding in 1948, and was produced with both hemmed and fringed edges. It was later revised c.1951.
