Placemat: Craft Horizons, Bottled Herbs 107, BrownDescription
A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record.
This placemat set is part of a short-lived c.1959 collection titled “Craft Horizons”, a decidedly modern departure from Wert’s typical Americana themes.
Placemat: a two-color silkscreen print on loosely woven natural linen. Imagery depicts two bottles, each holding sprigs of herbs.
Napkin: this striped napkin was found paired with the placemat in Sara Leeper’s collection of her father’s work. It is entirely possible this placemat should have a brown napkin printed with stylized herb plants like the other three Bottled Herbs 107 placemat sets.
The placemat set was produced in four colorways: aqua, pink, green, or brown.
Edges are straight stitched and fringed.Made/Created
