A five-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a tavern sign for an establishment owned by R. Angell with a founding date of 1808. An eagle with a striped heart-shaped chest shield holds a branch and a ship’s anchor in its talons.
This print is listed in the January 1960 Country Prints price list in a choice of antique birch or flat black frames, and appears in the c.1960 brochure “Country Prints in Frames Designed by Robert Darr Wert”; see images. It was offered as a single, double or triple with two other tavern signs, Spencer 916-5, and Prentis 916-6.Made/Created
