Name/Title

Print, Christmas: 1954 Country Prints Christmas Greeting

Description

A two-panel Country Prints’ Christmas greeting for 1954. These prints were produced specifically to send to Country Prints retailers, suppliers and other people of note to the business. A similar version of the pair was produced for Wert’s family, with their names added and the company name removed; see separate entry. This is a two-panel, three-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting symbols of love and plenty entwined around the Bible verse Hebrews 11-1, which is split between two panels: Panel 1: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for” Panel 2: “The evidence of things not seen” Wert’s signature trailing vines and topiary set the foundation of the compositions. Playful hand-lettering dances amongst the vines. Musical instruments, birds, and squared hearts complete the composition. This pair is a variant of framed prints Faith 612-10/11; see images.
