Book Cover: Mary Hunt’s Salad Bowl

Description

A book cover with a three-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting a large salad bowl, serving utensils and butter molds, all carved from wood. “Mary Hunt’s Salad Bowl” was a popular cookbook that began as a small soft-cover pamphlet in 1936. After numerous reprints and additions to content, it became a full-fledged book with a different cover. Bob Wert produced this cover art in 1948, for what was most likely a limited edition in celebration of a publishing milestone, or a corporate commission for a trade show, annual meeting, or other special occasion.
