Description

A five-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting a man timber framing a house and a woman baking bread in the finished bread oven while watching over a baby in a cradle. The illustration supports the maxim from Poor Richard’s Almanac, “Men make houses but women make home(s)” (the word ‘home’ is missing the ‘s’ at the end). This tile appears in the brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Prints Tiles”, c.1960; see images. This is one of a series of at least fourteen tiles featuring maxims from Poor Richard’s Almanac.
