Name/Title
Tile: Herbs, Rosemary T-74Description
A four-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting the herb rosemary with history and suggestions for use.
The text reads, “There’s ROSEMARY that’s for remembrance” W.S. (Shakespeare, spoken by Ophelia in Hamlet; see web link). “Grows well in the house where mistress is master, bees love it, used as a perfume - in soaps - oils - pot-pouri, “ros” for dew, “marinus” for sea, in the kitchen a pinch goes a long way with fish, pork, veal, and venison, also symbolizes devotion”.
This tile appears in the brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Print Tiles”, c.1960; see images.
This is one of a series of six tiles dedicated to single herbs; see individual tile entries.Made/Created
