Name/Title
Wallhanging, Christmas: Three Kings 344Description
A wallhanging with a five-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting the three kings of Jesus’ birth. The kings stand, kneel and sit around the manger. The seated king’s hand is on a lamb (the lamb of god). A radiant halo hovers above the manger. A fourteen pointed Christmas star is to the right of the standing king.
This late 1950’s wallhanging was reinterpreted in the mid-1960s for the Country Prints Plowshares product line; see separate entry. This example is without the Plowshares branding and contains other subtle differences.
This wallhanging is listed on the Christmas 1960 Country Prints price list. Each wallhanging included a “gay handprint envelope-mailer.”
Consistent with Country Prints’ wallhangings from the late 1950’s, the top edge is glued to a flat wooden stick and flat woven cord for hanging. Edges are fringed.Made/Created
