Name/Title
Print: Folk Patterns 516-2Description
A six-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting two female figures in long dresses (possibly dolls) standing amongst trees, plants and birds in a manner reminiscent of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art.
Wert produced at least two versions of “Folk Patterns”. Based on the signature, this is likely the earlier version, which appears in the c.1955 brochure “Country Prints in Frames” paired with Early Birds 516-3. It also appears in a c.1955 price list with the description, “Gay motifs peasant art.”
This was one of the first nine framed prints produced by Country Prints. It was offered in a choice of red, green, or mustard frames. Shown here is a homemade third party frame.Made/Created
