Name/Title
Placemat: Trivets 119Description
A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record.
A two-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting sixteen silhouettes of early American wrought and cast iron trivets and kitchen tools. The free form composition brings traditional subject matter into a modern design context.
This design appears on a c.1951 Country Prints packing slip, and a c.1955 price list which states, “Red Brick and Black on natural linen, of course.” The artwork for this print appears in a photo from the Springfield Sunday Republican, January 10, 1952.
Placemat edges are straight-stitched and fringed.
A matching framed print, potholder and cocktail napkins were also produced.Made/Created
