Name/Title

Tile: Transferware (TK)

Description

A three-color transfer print on a glazed white tile blank depicting a pattern from traditional transferware. The artwork is transferred to the tile from printed paper, and can be seen wrapping the downward faces of the tile edges; see images. This pattern is a departure from Wert’s typical Americana themes and may be a response to the rising interest in Victoriana during the 1960’s. This design was also produced as a round tile in a red colorway; see images.
