Towel, Calendar: Give Me Truth (TK), Green, 1963

Description

A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A calendar towel with a three-screen/four-color silkscreen print on white linen. Above the printed calendar, an eighteenth century couple sits on either side of a large wooden bucket emblazoned with the year 1963. From the bucket grows an espaliered fruit tree with branches framing a quote from Henry David Thoreau: “Rather the love than money than fame Give me truth.” Within the printed calendar, empty days are filled with the names of seasons and seasonal symbols. July 4 is highlighted in pink, and Christmas Day is represented with a six-point star.
