Description

A five-screen/six-color silkscreen underglaze print on a white tile blank depicting fourteen herb names, glass bottles, and kitchen utensils made of wood and wrought iron. This tile appears in the c.1955 brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Print Tiles”, the c.1956 brochure “Country Prints Tiles designed by Robert Darr Wert”, the c.1960 brochure “Robert Darr Wert/Country Print Tiles”, and in an article about Country Print Tiles in the journal Design, 1957; see images. A matching print on linen was also produced; see images.

Screen printing of underglaze colors, clear glaze, firing and finishing by Ceramo Studio, NYC. This example is printed on the thicker tile body used by Country Prints/Ceramo Studio prior to 1962.
