Print: Framed Country Notes, Series 335 (Country Life), Harvest (TK)Description
A print from the “Framed Country Notes” series based on Wert’s Country Print Notes notecards. This example is from the Country Life 335 notecard set and is matted with off-white colored paper finished with printed borders in black and mustard. The series is noted on a Spring 1958 Country Prints price list and may have been introduced that year.
A six-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a farmer holding a scythe. Symbols of the harvest surround the farmer: a shock of wheat, a bundle of dried corn, a jug for cider, a sheep, the harvest moon, and symbols of the zodiac (a reference to the Farmers’ Almanac).
This framed series varies from other framed Country Prints pieces in that the frame is essentially a box with the linen print and mat glued to the box bottom. The corners of the frame are box joined rather than mitered, and the back panel is a piece of wood that is integral to the frame, rather than the inset corrugated cardboard used in most Country Prints frames. A Country Prints story card printed in blue and red on teal colored cardstock is affixed to the back; see images.Made/Created
