Name/Title
Gift Greeting, Christmas: Twelve Days, Fourth Day; with Twelve Days folio, c.1955Description
A six-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting the fourth day of Christmas, from the traditional Christmas carol “The Twelve Days of Christmas”; see web link for song history. In the scene, a couple sings on either side of a potted sapling, within which sit four calling birds. The couple are in medieval dress, the woman plays a lute, and the man holds an open songbook in one hand while grasping the tree with the other.
This design is one of a twelve print series of The “Twelve Days of Christmas” which was also available as cocktail napkins (see images), the prime difference being the edges of the cocktail napkins are stitched to keep the fringe from unraveling when laundered. The Gift Greeting Prints have unstitched fringed edges.
This is a Gift Greeting, Country Prints’ line of unmounted prints available in cardstock note folders with envelopes for mailing or gift giving. This example has the Twelve Days folio; see images.Made/Created
