A set of four four-color silkscreen prints on off-white linen depicting whimsical rural scenes bordered in pink.
From left to right in first image:
1. A young girl greets two deer and a fawn.
2. Five hens stand amongst shrubs and a topiary.
3. Four cows graze amongst small trees.
4. A milkmaid carries a milking stool and milk pail and stands near a sheep and a farmhouse. The farmhouse is flanked by fruiting trees.
This set appears in the c.1955 brochure “Country Prints in Frames”; see images.
In a c.1954 supplementary price list, the framed prints are described: “66-1 PINKS — Hens in trees, grazing cows, child with deer and milk-maid are the subjects of this group done in pink, mustard and blue green with bold pink borders in a simple rather contemporary black frame. Complete set of 4 $12.00.”
This set was also produced as a Gift Greeting, Country Prints’ line of unmounted prints in cardstock note folders with envelopes for mailing or gift giving. Matching tiles were also produced; see images.Made/Created
