Name/Title

Wallhanging: American Youth Hostels Reunion, 1958

Description

A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record. A souvenir wallhanging with a three color silkscreen print on white linen depicting hikers as well as activities and locations found on adventures with the American Youth Hostels organization of Northfield, Massachusetts. American Youth Hostels (AYH) played a key role in the Wert’s lives. Margaret worked for the organization when she met Bob on a bike trip in Connecticut in 1940. Bob’s business partner, Fritz Kaufhold, worked with Margaret at AYH. The Wert’s later move to Northfield was rooted in their love of the area and their ties to AYH which was headquartered in the same town. This souvenir wallhanging was produced for AYH’s annual reunion in 1958 held at Bantam Lake (possibly in Connecticut).
