Name/Title
Towel, Wallhanging: Horse Sense U225Description
A two-color silkscreen print on natural linen depicting horse related maxims from Poor Richard’s Almanac by Benjamin Franklin.
The text-heavy composition is designed to resemble old newspaper advertising and advertising bills posted in public squares. The print contains ten horse-related sayings from Poor Richard’s Almanac, with images to reinforce the sayings. Imagery is drawn to look like antique advertising art.
This version varies from a possible earlier example with different signatures and alternate maxims in the two boxes in the lower right corner; see images for comparison.
This design appears in the brochure “Country Prints by Robert Darr Wert and Neighbors”, c.1963.Made/Created
