Print: Bucks County Bride 612-2, BlueDescription
A framed print and a mounted print retained by Country Prints as production samples.
A five-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting a young husband and wife with hands clasped, surrounded by symbols of abundance. Design is reminiscent of Pennsylvania “Dutch” folk art. Blue, red and yellow tulips form the right and left borders; above the couple appears a heart with two pheasants surmounted by two roosters. The husband wears a jacket that appears to be military. The wife wears a blouse, skirt and apron.
Print is staple-mounted to a chipboard backing, which is consistent with Wert’s earliest prints, before employing a dry-mounting press. The mounted print is secured within a painted Country Prints frame with staples. The unframed print is dry mounted to single ply chipboard.
This is one of the first nine framed prints offered by Country Prints. It was initially produced in a blue painted frame.Made/Created
