Name/Title
Towel, Wallhanging: Herbs of the Heart (TK), BlueDescription
A Country Prints production sample retained as a print record.
A three-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting herbs in illustration and text with their symbolism related to love. The title, Herbs of the Heart, appears in the lower half of the design, within the area bordered by an herb garland.
At the perimeter, a pink ribbon is tied with small bundles of herbs. The ends of the ribbon intertwine with the ends of an herb garland that hangs in a downward arc.
Within the ribbon/garland border, names of eleven herbs and their meanings are seen within and adjacent to small hearts:
“Rue for Grace
Thyme for Courage
Southernwood for Constancy
Chervil, Sincerity
Basil, Good Wishes
Burnet for a Merry Heart
Parsley for Festivity
Marjoram for Joy
Lavender for Devotion
Rosemary for Remembrance
Rose for Love”
A matching tile and apron were also produced (a good photo of the tile has not been documented). These items were available singly or in matched gift sets.Made/Created
