A placemat set with two four-screen/six-color silkscreen prints on off-white linen depicting items found in a well equipped early American kitchen. Items of woodware, glass, cast iron, and calico textiles are illustrated. Edges are straight stitched and fringed.
This set appears on a c.1951 packing slip, an c.1955 price list, and in the c.1955 brochure “Country Prints Mat Sets and Luncheon Squares by Robert Darr Wert”. The price list states, “Wooden utensils and furniture in tawny pine, Brick Red, Early Blue and Black. Runner to match — see #202 Woodenware — white linen”; see images.Made/Created
