Name/Title

Print, Christmas: 1957 Country Prints Christmas Greeting

Description

A Christmas greeting comprised of a four-color silkscreen print on off-white linen framed in a black die cut cardstock mat. The print features a large heart, hex signs and an angel with pine branches for wings. The mat is silkscreen printed with the first line of Luke 2:10 from the King James Bible, “And the angel said unto them”, which is continued (in part) on the linen print, “Fear not for behold I bring you good tidings.” The blank area at the base of the mat was most likely printed, “Robert Darr Wert and the Country Printers Anno 1957” for the company greeting, and “Robert, Margaret, Sara Darr and Jerry” for the family greeting. Linen print is sandwiched between the die cut mat and a black cardboard backing board. This card was produced around the same time as Country Prints’ line of Matted Greetings.
