Print, Christmas: 1954 Wert Family Christmas GreetingDescription
A 1954 Wert family Christmas greeting. One of a set of two panels comprising one Christmas greeting mailed to family, friends, and other people of note. This is the first Christmas greeting to include son Jerry’s name. A similar pair was produced for Country Prints with the company name added and the family names removed; see separate entry.
Two three-color silkscreen prints on off-white linen depicting symbols of love and plenty entwined with the Bible verse Hebrews 11-1, which is split between two panels:
Panel 1:
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for”
Panel 2:
“The evidence of things not seen”
Wert’s signature trailing vines and topiary set the foundation of the compositions. Playful hand-lettering dances amongst the vines. Musical instruments, birds, and squared hearts complete the design.
This pair is a variation of framed prints Faith 612-10/11; see images.Made/Created
