Print, Christmas: 1953 Country Prints Christmas GreetingDescription
A Country Prints Christmas greeting for 1953. These prints were produced specifically to send to Country Prints retailers, suppliers and other people of note to the business. This is the first Christmas greeting to refer to Wert’s staff as “The Country Printers”.
This is a four-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting angels, birds, trailing vines, a rooster in a Christmas tree, and the lyric by Handel, “and heaven and nature sing the wonders of his love”, from “Joy to the World”.
This is the first Christmas greeting signed “Country Printers”. It was later featured in a Country Prints promotional photo c.1958; see photos.
