Gift Greeting, Christmas: Twelve Days, First Day
Description
A six-color silkscreen print on off-white linen depicting the “First Day” scene from the traditional Christmas song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”; see web link for song history.
At left, a woman in a red dress and blue apron holds a lute in one hand and reaches for a partridge high in an espaliered pear tree. The song verse appears at the top and bottom of the composition. The woman’s outstretched arm draws attention to the partridge. The angular forms of the tree branches give structure.
This is a Gift Greeting, Country Prints’ line of unmounted prints available in folded cardstock note folders with envelopes for mailing or gift giving.
This print appears in a Country Prints promotional photo, 1957; see images.
