Name/Title

Notecard: Christmas, First Day (TK)

Description

A six screen silkscreen print on white linen depicting the first day of Christmas from the traditional song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. A woman in eighteenth century dress spins thread at a spinning wheel, her thread being held aloft by the partridge in the pear tree beyond. A butter churn stands next to the woman. The linen print is backed with a silkscreen printed calendar for December 1961 and January 1962. This assemblage was likely meant to be glued inside a die cut greeting card such as the one pictured below. This example descended through the Wert family and is in the collection of Kathryn Zentner.
