George W Arey was born Dec 10,1826 in Rockingham County.
He enlisted in the Civil War at Rudes Hill Company B, Second Regiment, Virginia Infantry. Member of the Stonewall Brigade under Brig Gen James A Walker.
George was wounded at the battle of Gettysburg on July 3,1863, and is buried on the farm.
His parents were George and Elizabeth Shifflett Arey. His wife was Catherine Guyer Arey.
